US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he has already found a buyer for TikTok, a necessary step to allow the platform to continue operating in the United States.

“We have a buyer for TikTok. We will probably need approval from China,” he said on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures program, but not revealed the name and only said that it is a large, “very wealthy” technology company, which he will announce in a matter of “two weeks.”
Under the mandate of Democrat Joe Biden (2021-2025), the previous Congress passed a law that forced TikTok to disengage from its parent company, China’s ByteDance, and find an investor from a country that was not considered a national “adversary” before January 20, when Trump took office.
When no agreement was reached, the application stopped working for a few hours in the United States until the Republican, on his first day back to the White House, signed an executive order granting a first extension of 75 days.
On April 4, Trump granted an additional 75 days to TikTok that would have ended on June 19, but the same day the Republican leader extended the date for another 90 days, until September 17.
The president had previously assured that he has “a weak spot with TikTok,” insisting that this platform contributed to his victory in last November’s elections by boosting its approval among young people.
